The D40 is Nikon’s entry level, budget digital SLR with 6 megapixel resolution and 3x optical zoom lens. The Nikon D40 was made for photographers that may want to upgrade from a film SLR or compact digital camera.

The D40 is small and light, has easy to use menus and help system, 2.5 inch display and produces excellent prints that should satisfy most photographers. Overall, the Nikon D40 is an excellent camera and perfect for beginners or anyone wanting to learn more about photography.
